On March 27, a Portage la Prairie RCMP officer was making patrols in Portage, leading to the arrest of a 44-year-old woman.

It all started when the officers observed a man in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked in the 600 block of 3rd Street NE. The man was known to not have a valid driver's licence, so the officer conducted a traffic stop. A woman in the back seat was attempting to exit the vehicle and hand her coat over to a youth who had exited a nearby residence.

The officer intercepted the transaction due to this suspicious nature. Police then located a substance suspected to be Methamphetamine.

The 44-year-old woman was placed under arrest for Possession of Methamphetamine. During a search of the women, more Methamphetamine was located. In total, she was in possession of over 79 grams.

She has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine as well as Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00.

She appeared in court the following day and was released on a release order with specified conditions.

The man in the driver's seat was released with no charges.
