With the power back on at Stride Place, Advanced Polls are open today until 9:00 p.m.

Elections Canada Regional Media Advisor Marie-France Kenny outlines everything you need to know.

"Those who are registered have received a voter registration card," explains Kenny. "That tells them exactly where they need to go to vote, and it gives the poll number as well. Within the polling place, there are several polling stations. When you enter a polling place, there are usually seven or eight tables. These are different polling stations."

She notes you will be directed to where you need to go when you arrive.

Kenny notes if you have not yet registered, that's the first thing you have to take care of.

"If you've moved, if you've turned 18, if you're a new citizen, chances are you're not on the voter registry, or you need to update the information," continues Kenny. "We have registration officers there on site."

She adds if you aren't aware of a voter registration card, or haven't yet received one, you can get the information about where to vote by clicking here. Kenny notes the Returning Office in Portage will also be able to provide that information for you.

Kenny says it's important that you know you cannot just go to any polling location to vote. Each person has a specific site where they need to vote.
