A home invasion took place early Saturday morning on Spruce Bay in Portage la Prairie.

Two males were seen fleeing the scene with several weapons in their possession when police arrived.

A 23-year-old man from Long Plain First Nation and a 26-year-old man from Portage la Prairie were arrested. During the invasion, a 30-year old man from Sandy Bay First Nation was injured who was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, and is now in stable condition. The two were charged with aggravated assault and multiple firearms offences.

Police report all involved knew each other and the incident was drug-related. Police say there's no threat to the public and they're increasing patrols around areas known to have drug-related incidents.

Detachment Commander, A/Insp. Robert Vachon says, “We are always on patrol throughout the city, but we can’t be everywhere at once. We need help sometimes, and that’s where concerned citizens can lend a hand. If you see something suspicious, call us.”

You're urged to contact local RCMP immediately about any suspected drug activity.
