In efforts to see Austin's first Childcare facility established, the North Northfolk Childcare Centre has been raising funds for quite some time to renovate a building that's been given for that purpose.

Board member Devan Woolley says they're holding a New Year's Eve Social to raise more funds. It begins at 9:00 p.m. and runs until 1:00 a.m.

"We're having prizes, DJs, 50/50, dancing, and, hopefully, be a great time," says Woolley. "We've been fundraising ongoing for the last few years and we've had a couple of events in the area, but we still have a goal that we're going to announce in the next few weeks. We're hoping to reach that goal pretty soon."

Woolley says the final numbers from reports determining renovation costs have yet to come in.

She adds they're hoping this project can finally go ahead in 2024.

"We've had a building donated to us last year," continues Woolley. "We're taking that building and turning it into the Daycare Centre for the town. We're very excited."

Woolley extends thanks on behalf of the Centre to those residents who supported the project as well as the businesses that have donated.

"If you would like tickets, you can either call or text me at (204) 870-1401, or you can reach us on Facebook at North Norfolk Childcare Centre, and you can send us a message and we'll make sure to get tickets to you," adds Woolley.
