The starting quarterback of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Matt Nichols, was in Portage this past Saturday. He was here to sign autographs at Craig Dunn GM, in support of the Portage Pitbulls fundraising barbeque. Nichols says that meeting with his young fans is something that is important to him.

"It is great to just come out," says Nichols. "And anytime you get an opportunity to see the kids and see the smiles on their faces. Usually, as they're talking to you they're extremely shy and you kind of see them walking away all excited. So you know, it's a great part of the game and a great part of what we get to do as professional players."

A rainy day for a barbeque, but that didn't stop Portagers from heading down and supporting their local football club.
