The female U18 AAA Central Plains Capitals have just two more games left in their regular season. The final home game for the Caps takes place tonight as they welcome the Yellowhead Chiefs to town. The Caps have yet to beat Yellowhead this year, having fallen in all three of their matchups.

The Chiefs come into this one as the second-ranked team in the league, while also having won six of their last seven contests. Central Plains, on the other hand, came out on top in four of their last six games and are playing some of their best hockey of the season.

The Caps' leading scorer, Danika Botterill, returned from injury seven games ago and has made a significant impact. Since coming back to the lineup, Botterill has scored six goals and dished out three assists. Throughout the entire season, the forward has 24 points and is placed fifth in the entire league in goals with 18.

Anika Moroz has also been a huge standout this year for Central Plains as she enters the final weekend of the regular season tied for the best save percentage in the MFHL at 0.939. The goaltender also has the most total saves this season stopping 538 total shots while allowing 2.60 goals on average.

The Capitals' final outing of the season will see them visit the Interlake Lightning tomorrow night. Central Plains has had Interlake's number so far this year, taking them down in all three of their previous outings.

The girls will use these last two games to prepare for the first round of their postseason which begins on the road this Wednesday. Central Plains will begin a best-of-five series with the Westman Wildcats who they beat last weekend 4-1. Game two of that series will take place in Portage one week from today.

Tonight's matchup takes place at 7:45 at the BDO Centre.
