A four point night from Cody Blight helped power Central Plains Capitals to a 7-1 victory over Nor-Man Northstars in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League last night at the BDO Centre in Portage la Prairie.

The Northstars opened the scoring at 2:16, but the Caps' Kian Calder squared things at 6:37.

The second period belonged to the Capitals, as Cody Blight notched and pair, while Ryan Botterill had a single.

It was the same story in the third, as Riley Borody, Marcus Dewey, and Cody Blight scored.

Blight also assisted on Kian Calder's goal. Borody chipped in two helpers. Stephen Grahn had four assists.

Coach Len Dupasquier feels the win comes down to one thing -- hard work.

"Sticking to the game plan," he says, "We came out a little bit flat in the first period, but they really put forth an effort that we expect them to do every night, for those final two period. They didn't get away from it, and we've got the result that we wanted."

Dupasquier is pleased the players have bought into the hard work program.

"They've worked hard, and they benefited from it," he says, "It's all with in them, they've just got to bring it out every game. And we've been pushing them and pushing them -- sometimes it takes a little bit longer. I thing we're at that turning point now, we've got injuries, we need these guys to step up, we've got three, four key guys out of the lineup, and when these guys come back, we're just going to be deeper because of it."

Meanwhile, Cody Blight talks about his three goal performance.

"It feels really good," he says, "I went through a bit of a slump, but the boys were going today, and they were setting me up really well, and I just capitalized on all my chances."

The Caps' next action is Sunday night, when they face Pembina Valley in Morden.
