The U18 AAA female Central Plains Capitals are hoping to build on last night's performance.

The Caps went 0-2 this weekend but they are proud of the way they played in a 7-4 loss against the Yellowhead Chiefs. The game was tied with under ten minutes to play in the third period before Yellowhead pulled away.

Forward Liberty Aime says their effort is starting to show.

"I really think we played like a team. We never gave up," Aime continues. "We were able to build on each other's successes and rally as a team."

Four is the most amount of goals the Capitals have scored in any game in 2023, and this was the first time Central Plains hit that mark since December 2. Assistant captain Mikaela Nimetz says they'll look to keep the offence rolling next weekend.

"I think we just have to build on what we're doing," Nimetz explains. "We've got the foundation, and eventually, bounces are going to start coming our way."

Nimetz says as long as they keep improving, they'll be able to start fresh in the postseason.

The Caps will be on the road for the rest of the month, with the last home game of the regular season coming on Friday, February 3.
