It was a season of growth for the Central Plains Capitals in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

Head Coach Len Dupasquier says the team came together after a rough start.

"I think for the most part, if a person was to take a look at the beginning of the season to now, we improved a great deal," says Dupasquier. "We went from getting blown out in the first few games, to actually beating the teams that blew us out."

The Caps handed out their team awards recently, and Cody Blight was named MVP.

"There was a point in time during the season where he got injured, and I think it was at that point in time, where he related more to the gameplan," says Dupasquier. "He had the opportunity to see the game from different perspectives, and really took it to the next level."

Other winners included Garrett Maly being recognized for his Sportsmanship and Leadership, Riley Borody and Duncan Jowett sharing Most Improved Player, Marcus Dewey was named Top Defensive Forward, Alex Cattani was named Top Scorer, Kian Calder was Top Defenceman, and Ryan Botterill took home Rookie of the Year and Most Gentlemanly Player.
