The Central Plains FC's season has come to a close. The soccer club dropped their playoff opener 1-0 on Monday night against Elmwood FC. Midfielder Brett Hannah says it was a hard-fought outing.

"We played fairly well but we were kind of stuck on our back foot and low on subs. We didn't really have as much speed as they did, so we had to sit back a little more than we usually like to," Hannah explains. "We played well but I think they were just better than us in that game. We had some good performances that kept us in the game."

Despite finishing sixth in the overall standings, Central Plains still managed to have a positive record going 9-4-4 with a +14 goal differential. Hannah says the season itself was still a success.

"We had our core group of players and they always showed up with a good attitude. With all the injuries we had this year, it was really tough to field a team sometimes because we just didn't have the numbers that we usually have, especially after COVID," Hannah continues. "The way we were able to bounce back against other teams, even when they had more subs or were younger than us, we were still able to have good performances."

Hannah notes their record shows that they could compete with the best teams in the division, especially if they had a few more players or weren't as derailed by the injury bug. The midfielder singles out one player who has been a catalyst for this organization over the past few seasons.

"I have to give a shout-out to Brad Wright. He's been managing the team through COVID, winter, and summer for the past three or four years. He's been a big part in keeping the team going, otherwise, I don't know if there would be a team."

Hannah adds they will be starting up their indoor season fairly soon, which they use to keep in shape for the summer. He says they actually won their division last year and are excited to get that going once again.

The midfielder notes they are starting up a new Facebook page called 'Central Plains FC' and says anyone looking to join in the future or any potential sponsors can reach out to them there to get in contact.
