The Portage and District Chamber of Commerce recognized many different local businesses and community members in a virtual edition of their annual business awards this afternoon.

After having previous events postponed due to restrictions surrounding COVID-19, the Chamber was finally able to recognize excellence in the local business and non-profit community in what was a tremendously challenging year.

"Instead of an in-person celebration, we had the virtual presentation of the awards, which was a first, of course, for the Chamber of Commerce," says Chamber president Kyle Pettinger. "I think it went fairly well. I was on the sending side of things so I didn't actually see what was on the receiving end. But we did have a good number of our membership tune into the presentation, so I think, all in all, a success."

Four awards were handed out during the virtual ceremony including:

Outstanding Not-For-Profit - Portage Community Revitalization Corporation
Outstanding Contribution to the Community by a Business - MR MIKES Steakhouse Casual
Outstanding New Entrepreneur - Adrienne Hofer Styled With Meraki
Outstanding Business of the Year - Prairie City Cinema
