Cindy Lou Turcotte
April 17, 1958 – November 2, 2023

If you knew Cindy, you loved Cindy and Cindy loved you.

She was a gregarious woman, a generous friend, a loyal sister, an adoring wife, a fierce mother, and a truly amazing grandmother.

Cindy devoted herself to ensuring those around her felt welcome, appreciated, and understood. She hugged first and asked questions later - and those hugs were legendary. Cindy was unabashedly proud of her family (and never hesitated to tell you so) and her lovely, meandering stories will be forever missed.

One can’t help but admire a person such as Cindy, she built her beautiful life from scratch and worked hard for everything and everyone she held dear. Cindy was an especially fantastic Mother & Co-Mother to her beloved children, Danica & Richard - but it must be noted that any kid to pass through her doors was treated like family. Having the privilege of being close to her meant learning a few important lessons:

How to trust and be trusted.
How to be vulnerable and brave.
How to love and be loved.

She was kind, silly, and strong. And on November 2 she was held close by family, soothed by her favourite music, and most importantly, at peace. In fact, she said so herself - written in a letter to her daughter:

“I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my youthful laugh be forever etched into the grooves on my face… I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here I will not waste my time lamenting what could have been… And I shall enjoy a toast with my friends every single day.”

So, please, love easily and openly like Cindy did, and join us in a toast today:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

The family invites anyone who would like to honour Cindy’s memory, to join us in celebrating on June 22, 2024 at Miller’s Camping Resort in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Video tribute to be added when complete.
