Club Snow is patiently waiting to get back out on the trails but needs some help from mother nature.

While the club has been preparing for this upcoming winter by marking trails, president Doug Atchison says there’s only so much they can do without a good amount of snow on the ground. He says that people should begin to notice signage around where the trails will be.

“People may not realize this, but there are more groomed trails in Manitoba than there are highways,” says Atchison. “There's over 13,000 kilometres of groomed trail in Manitoba.”

He adds that once they finally have enough snow to work with, they will pack the trails so their groomers and other equipment can go over them safely. Atchison says it can take six to seven different snowmobiles to pack the snow before the eight-foot-wide trail can be finished.

“I've noticed that a lot of people are not aware of how far our reach is with Club Snow,” explains the president. “We go northeast to St. Laurent through St. Ambroise. We go over lots of farmland towards Gladstone. We go southwest to Holland joining up with the Spruce Woods Provincial Park trails.”

The club president says anyone that’s looking to join only has to pay the $30 membership, which stays the same whether you’re signing just yourself up, or if you’re signing up your family.
