Lightning is the main cause for a dozen new forest fires in Manitoba. 60 fires are burning, 30 of them are being actioned.
Gary Friesen with the Fire program says over 500 fire fighters are working on the fires, along with 9 water bombers, 4 single engineer aircraft tankers, and 27 helicopters.
The fire at Tadoule lake covers 600 hectares and is about two and a half kilometres from the community.
The South Indian Lake fire covers 85-thousand hectares and is growing, but Friesen notes the growth is happening away from the community.
