Another incumbent Portage la Prairie city councillor's declared his intention to run in the October municipal election.

Brent Froese says his decision centers around continuing the work done by Council, which he feels has been very effective.

"We've addressed many local issues at a grassroots level," he says, "I feel that we represent our population well. there's been growth in our term -- not all of it, of course, is our doing, but the city is certainly benefiting from some economic development. And I believe we've kept our tax in line, and we have some initiatives under way that I'd hate to see fail, for lack of attention."

Froese feels being Community Service Committee Chair is a good fit.

"I really recognize that a city is more than bricks and mortar," he says, "That it's the people that matter, and we need to be inclusive, our resources need to be accessible and sustainable. We need to make sure we represent all of our citizens."
