The Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie received a $1,000 boost from Pallister Farms Inc. Colleen Pallister made the contribution and explains how important the centre is to her.

"I just think that the Glesby Centre's a wonderful venue for Portage. We want to keep it in Portage; not only for the paid performers that come to entertain the community, it's also about all the children in the community who get to actually experience using a professional stage. That, I think, is an awesome experience for everybody."

Executive director Chris Kitchen notes the Centre depends upon that kind of support.

"We love the support that we get from the community. Families like the Pallisters, and Pallister Farms, who genuinely see what the Glesby Centre has to offer. She was telling me earlier her kids have all been on this stage, in one way or another. I mean, that's exactly what's happening. Our kids are growing up knowing the Glesby Centre from being onstage. And our adults, our patrons, are in the audience seeing the shows that are being put on. We have high calibre entertainment. We have a little something for everyone. A centre like this needs to operate on help from the community. And we're so happy to be able to see groups like this step up and be there for us."

He notes they're only a few thousand dollars away from reaching their goal for the roof repairs, and looks forward to the ability to work on future projects.
