Joey Carlson is a grade three student at Ecolé Crescentview School in Portage la Prairie, and he had the idea to put on a jersey day at the school to support the Winnipeg Jets.

Joey rallied together with his close friends Bryce Olson, and Reece Maryniuk to get the day rolling. After making school announcements about it, nearly 350 students showed up dressed in Jets gear from head to toe.

The students all marched around school grounds chanting "Go Jets Go!"

Joey shares it was terrific to see all the jerseys and signs made by his fellow students.

"I like when there are a whole bunch of people saying go jets go because it's lots of people's favourite team," says Carlson.

Joey came up with the idea, and his mom emailed the principal, Tracy Vanstone, from there it took off. Joey notes he'd like to keep it going until it's the end of the season for the Jets.

Bryce explains he was happy to help Joey get this done. He said it feels great because he loves hockey, school, and of course, the Jets.

"This happened all because of him," says Bryce. "He's like the biggest Jets Fan I know."

Bryce would like to see this continue for many times to come and hopes the Jets can take home the Stanley Cup or second place.

Reece shares, doing this with Joey made him feel like a leader. He adds it was very cool to be able to go on the school announcements.

Tracy Vanstone says she loves the spirit this initiative shows. She adds, students quickly started making posters and chanting.

"The kids are having fun, and it is ok to have fun at school," says Vanstone. "We want kids to have fun, we want them to feel comfortable, and embrace our Winnipeg Jets, teach them team spirit, and teamwork."

The students will continue wearing blue and cheering on the Jets until they are out or until they win the Stanley Cup.
