MacGregor's own, Mike Hawco, is extremely proud of his performance at the Summit SuperSeries World Finals.

The drag racer had the honour of being a part of this international event in Mississippi after placing first in his class locally this year. Hawco says the first day was all about getting used to the track.

"For the first trial run, my boy was there helping me out, getting lined up. When I did my burnout, I was a little anxious because I've never dealt with a short shutdown area like we had (the amount of space he had to slow down and stop after the finish line) and the incline on it. That was one of my major concerns because you're racing to the end. You're trying to get your number. You don't want to slow up at all," Hawco explains. "I know I skidded my tires a couple of times because I was getting close to the end fence. You have to get things hauled down fast there. At our track at home, we have a mile of shut down area if we really needed it."

Hawco notes while it was a change of pace, the trail runs were key in making him feel comfortable enough to see a ton of success the following day for the Race of Champions. The racer says this saw all the first-place finishers from tracks across the continent able to compete for a cash prize in a set of 1-on-1 races while also having to not go over the time they picked pre-race.

"I actually went all five rounds in that. I was pretty proud of myself to get to go rounds with some top guys around the country and the world. It was pretty good," Hawco continues. "There were 100 cars in our class, and I think I made it to the top 12 that were left. The guy that took me out, he went ahead and actually won the whole night, and took home the jackpot. They're very tough competitors down there. It's so cool to go rounds with guys that are world champions."

When it came to the main event a couple of days later, Hawco says he was able to qualify but unfortunately, he went just a tad too fast in the opening round.

"I dialled a 5.04, and I ended up going a 5.038. Two one-thousandths of a second put me back in the trailer but it was a really good and fun experience. On the Friday race, it was so cool, we got to race at night under the lights, and I'd never raced at night before. It was an overwhelming experience and was pretty awesome."

Hawco adds this is the largest-scale event he has ever been a part of and says he brought his whole family with him, which made it even more enjoyable.

"It was incredible just to be there. I even told my wife and kids, 'If I just go a round, I'd be happy just to be there.' It's surreal when you get there. You get to race against these top-notch racers, and you're competing with them. It was incredible."

The MacGregor product gives thanks to all of the friends, family members, and fellow racers, who reached out to show their support and cheer him on from afar in the biggest races of his life.
