It was a slug fest in Gladstone last night in the Tiger Hills Hockey League playoffs.
The Lakers were facing elimination, trailing MacGregor Wild 2-1 in the best of 5 East Division Final, but posted a 6-5 overtime victory.
Both teams came out scoring in the first period, with Jesse Toth and Sean Kubas giving the home team 2-0 lead by the 2:22 mark.
The Wild replied with a goal from Tyler Ham, before Gladstone's Nick Stire and Dillon Smith scored, to make it 4-1. That didn't deter MacGregor, as Braden Klippenstein and Matt Varnes found the back of the net, sending the teams to the dressing rooms with Gladstone holding a 4-3 advantage,
Klippenstein scored his second of the night at 9:43 of the second to tie the game, followed by teammate Matt Boschman's marker, giving the Wild a 5-4 lead, going into the third.
Cory Yeroschak got the equalizer for Gladstone at 11:53 of the third, and that was good enough to send the game into overtime.
Five minutes into O-T, Jordan Geddes got the winner for Gladstone, tying the series 2-all.
Danny Hall got the win in the Lakers' net. Stewart Fleury was in goal for MacGregor.
The series shifts to MacGregor this afternoon for the deciding game. It'll be at 4:30, at the Nor-Mac Centre.
Elsewhere last night, Killarney beat Boissevain 8-4, cutting the Border Kings' West Division Final series lead to 2-1. They'll face each other tonight in Boissevain.
