Funding for the museums within the Central Plains will be coming in from the province of Manitoba.

Central Manitoba Tourism General Manager Kaley Young says that they've received $8,112 from the province's Heritage Grant Program to bring museums around the region high quality video and photography content. This includes showcasing our own Fort la Reine Museum.

"We're going to be covering some of the items that are in the museums and the exciting gems that we have," says Young. "In Portage's Fort la Reine, they have an old conductor's car, and also caboose."

She explains that they're going to be using this footage to engage with people about the museums in the Central Plains.

"We're sharing this stay-close-to-home message with our followers, who are mostly Manitobans," adds Young, "and we're helping them discover new and exciting locations within the province and visiting when it is safe to do so."

They've also hired students as both videographers and photographers to shoot the majority of the content, which will be the first time they've done this. Young says that this is a new initiative that will continue if they receive more funding after this year.

All of the content will be released on each museum's separate social media accounts as they're made.
