Portage la Prairie's McKenna Davis is enjoying life playing the sport she loves in New Brunswick for Team Manitoba at the U19 National Ringette Championships.

Davis wears #70 for Team Manitoba, and the forward has five assists in six games at the tournament. She says she has loved the experience of travelling to Canada's east coast to represent her home province.

"It's really awesome. It's great to be here with my team and play the sport I love. I've never been to the east coast before, so it's a new experience, and there are lots of places to see."

The Portage Collegiate Institute student notes that she is the only player on the team from this area, with the team being based out of Eastman.

"Being the furthest player, that's a lot of commitment. But I'm willing to do that to be on this team. That's why I'm here."

Davis and the rest of Team Manitoba play a quarter-final matchup against Alberta on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT. She describes how significant it is to get to this point in the tournament.

"Manitoba has always been one of the underdog teams, so it feels good that we're representing the province proudly, sticking together, keeping our heads high, and playing to our very best potential."
