Michele Evette Lavallee

After battling for many years with illnesses, it is with profound sadness to announce that Michele Lavallee passed away on May 7, 2023 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 58 years.

Left to treasure her memory are her children Fallon and Vince; grandson Alexander; siblings Bill (Karen), Al (Barb) and Tracy (Gary); nieces and nephews Nick, Andrew (Kayla), William (Meressa), Damon and Kayla; along with with numerous relatives and friends.  She was predeceased by her mom and dad Alfred and Stella.

Michele grew up and lived most of her life in St. Ambroise.  Her first job was commercial fishing on Lake Manitoba with her parents.  After doing that for years, she moved on to working in Quality Assurance for many years at McCains and then Simplot.  She loved her jobs in the lab and was always at the center of the after work get togethers.  She enjoyed parties and could always be found serving as a designated driver, making sure everyone made it home safely.  She loved to travel and took any opportunity she could to go on a trip.  Her favourite trips were going to California, Florida and Hawaii.  Unfortunately, her life took a turn after she had meningitis in 2012 and she has been battling its lingering effect with a brave face ever since.  She loved her family immensely and served as a mother figure to many.  She was loved and will be missed.

Funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 11:00 am, with viewing prior to service, led by Father Michael Savarimuthu.  Interment will take place at the St. Ambroise Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Michele’s memory to the St. Ambroise Parish 1125 Saskatchewan Ave East, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3Y8 or Diabetes Canada (Manitoba), 401-1 Wesley Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4C6.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
