The past is catching up to Portage's Fort La Reine museum today.
The museum is hosting its annual Heritage Day event, with a theme this year of "Science, Then and Now".
Museum manager John Bjore explains there'll be more than just artifacts on display. They'll attempt to bake bannock using a solar oven and make ice cream the old-fashioned way.
Among several other activities, a pioneer harvest is planned to re-enact the past, and Bjore feels the event will help commemorate how our ancestors lived.
The museum will also be hosting a bake sale and flea market, as well as offer several performances mimicking old-fashioned fairs.
