The Winnipeg Blue Bombers lost their four straight game at
McMahon Stadium. Calgary's Jeremaine Copeland caught two touchdown
passes as the Calgary Stampeders pummelled the Bombers 43-9.
Calgary's  Sandro DeAngelis kicked five field goals. Troy Westwood
kicked a pair of singles for Winnipeg, while Charles Roberts ran for
a five-yard touchdown.

 

Aaron Hill saved the day with a two-run homer in the 10th inning
as the Toronto Blue Jays edged Tampa Bay 5-4.  Toronto rallied from
a 3-1 deficit in the ninth and a 4-3 deficit in the tenth to secure
the victory. Jays starter Roy Halladay showed no ill-effects from
the line drive he took off his right elbow in his previous start.

The Russian hockey club Magnitogorsk is putting up a fight for
Evgeni Malkin. A Russian arbitration tribunal issued a court order
prohibiting the Russian centre from playing in the N-H-L. But
exactly what that means isn't clear. N-H-L deputy commissioner Bill
Daly says the league is ``happy to review and consider anything that
may be provided''.

 

Former Toronto Maple Leafs captain Doug Gilmour is returning to
his old stomping grounds -- but not on the ice.  The Toronto fan
favourite accepted a full-time position as  the Leafs' talent
evaluator.  The 43-year-old hung up his skates three years ago.

 

Tampa Bay running back Carnell Williams returned to practice and
says he doesn't think back spasms will prevent him from playing
against the Atlanta Falcons tomorrow. Last season's N-F-L offensive
rookie of the year had an M-R-I exam this week and was held out of
Thursday's practice as a precaution.
