Public health officials with Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care are alerting residents to five new measles exposure sites in southern Manitoba.
Officials say anyone at these locations on the listed dates should monitor for symptoms and check their vaccination records.
The new exposure sites include Penfor Construction in Blumenort, the Oak Bluff Recreation Club ice rink, Greenvalley Equipment in Stanley, Caisse Financial Group in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, and the Brandon Regional Health Centre emergency department.
“Anyone who was at these locations during the times listed should check their immunization records and ensure they are up to date with the measles vaccine,” notes Manitoba Health officials.
Public health outlines the following schedule for monitoring symptoms:
- Penfor Construction, 94 Penner Dr., Blumenort – Jan. 31, 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.; monitor until Feb. 22
- Oak Bluff Recreation Club ice rink, Unit 101–123 MacDonald Rd., Oak Bluff – Jan. 31, 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; monitor until Feb. 22
- Greenvalley Equipment, Stanley – Feb. 2, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (monitor until Feb. 24) and Feb. 5, 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (monitor until Feb. 27)
- Caisse Financial Group, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes – Feb. 3, 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; monitor until Feb. 25
- Brandon Regional Health Centre emergency department, Brandon – multiple exposures Feb. 5–7; monitor until Feb. 27–March 1 depending on timing
“For individuals born in 1970 or later who have never received a measles vaccine and have never had a measles infection, measles vaccine is recommended,” continues Manitoba Health officials.
Certain groups should not receive the vaccine, including infants under six months, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems.
“These individuals should contact their health-care provider or public health as they may be eligible for preventative treatment within six days of exposure,” adds officials.
Manitoba continues to see a rise in cases, including exposures at Manitoba Ag Days, held Jan. 20–22 at the Keystone Centre in Brandon.
“Anyone who attended Ag Days, visited hotels, restaurants, and shops should monitor for symptoms until Feb. 13,” says Ag Days General Manager Kristen Phillips.
Since early 2025, Manitoba has recorded 393 confirmed measles cases and 37 probable cases, with 74 confirmed cases in January 2026 alone.
