Central Plains Cancer Services has a new partnership as of yesterday. They are joining together with the Portage Co-op in order to support their Hearts of Hope Program. The program will now be known as the Central Plains Cancer Services Hearts of Hope Program with Portage Co-op. CPCS Executive Director Sharilyn Knox was on hand to accept a cheque for $15,000 from Portage Co-op General Manager Kevin Dales. Knox says the Hearts of Hope Program offers something different than their normal services.

"Hearts of Hope Program was established in 2016 by Central Plains Cancer Services," says Knox. "We saw that there was a need for people in our region to have a different type of support other than just our education and transportation programs."

She details how the program works.

"There's a committee that deals with requests we get from doctors, social workers, family members or even patients themselves," notes Knox. "Then, we decide if, and how, we can help with those situations."

Knox adds she is thankful for the donation and looks forward to the new partnership.
