Mosquito traps throughout Manitoba have turned up no new signs of West Nile virus in the past week.

Doctor Susan Roberecki is the Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health.
She says they've found no infected mosquitoes since the first week of June when a few turned up in Steinbach.

Doctor Roberecki adds the province-wide counts of Culex Tarsalis mosquitoes are minimal so the risk remains low.

But she urges us to avoid mosquito bites, especially after dark when this species is most active.
