The province is bringing back number grades for high school students. Manitoba's high school system currently refers to grades 9 to 12 as senior 1-4. Portage School Division Assistant Superintendent Hazen Barrett believes the S1-S4 system never really caught on as people still referred to the grades by number. Barrett adds the original intention of having S1-S4, implemented in 1994 was to look at the high school years as a four year block, he believes the change won't have a major impact, although he feels it will make things easier for students, parents and staff. |
