On February 3, 2022, investigators from the RCMP Major Crime Services, arrested and charged a 17-year-old male from Portage la Prairie with Manslaughter, in the homicide of a 41-year-old male from Portage la Prairie.

The suspect remains in custody and will be appearing in court in Winnipeg on February 4, 2022.

 

MsoNormal">RCMP have obtained surveillance video from September 27, 2021, around the time of the incident which occurred at 12:16 am, and are asking for the public's help in identifying two possible suspects.

The location of the video is the back alley of the 100 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West in Portage la Prairie. One suspect is seen on foot wearing dark colored clothing and a light colored facemask. The other suspect is seen riding a bike wearing a light-colored jacket/hoody and dark pants.

On September 27, 2021, at approximately 12:16 am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a male who was assaulted with a weapon behind a business on Saskatchewan Avenue West in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Two suspects were seen fleeing from the location, one on foot and one on a bike. Officers attended and located the injured 41-year-old male from Portage. First aid was provided to the male until Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported him to Winnipeg hospital, where he remains in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.

RCMP Police Dog Services arrived on scene, and Police Service Dog Jolt began a track, which led police to recover some evidence as well as a possible last location of the suspects at 10th Street NW and Fisher Avenue.
