This past weekend saw yet another incident out on the water at Lake Manitoba.

Portage RCMP Media Liaison Officer Constable Larry Neufeld explains the call came in shortly after 5 p.m. on June 28th about a group of people being swept away on a raft in St. Ambroise, Manitoba. Portage RCMP got their boat in the water at Delta Beach and travelled to St. Ambroise from there.

Upon arrival, they located the raft with five people aboard. They were taken safely back to shore. Meanwhile, two others had already been returned to shore by a boater. Two people were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.

Neufeld adds the RCMP would like to remind you to always wear a life jacket if you are on any inflatable, especially on a large body of water, as a sudden gust of wind could send you far away from shore.

This is the third time this year that the RCMP have had to rescue people off of Lake Manitoba.
