A 27-year-old woman from Sandy Bay First Nation is facing multiple charges after a shoplifting incident and alleged altercation with a community safety officer in Portage la Prairie on May 20.
Portage la Prairie RCMP say officers were called to a retail store in the 100-block of Saskatchewan Avenue West at approximately 9 p.m. after a report of theft.
Police say a community safety officer had arrested a woman who allegedly left the store with about $18 worth of phone chargers without paying.

RCMP note the woman resisted arrest and pushed the officer while attempting to break free, prompting police to attend the scene.
Officers took the woman into custody following the incident.
The 27-year-old is charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and theft under $5,000.
RCMP say she was later released on an undertaking with conditions.
