The stage is set for the MJHL championship final between the Portage Terriers and the Winnipeg Saints for the Turnbull Trophy.
Both the Terriers, who are the defending MJHL & ANAVET Cup champions, and Saints, advanced to the final on Monday. Saints defeated OCN Blizzard in six games, while the Terriers got by Winnipeg Blues also in six games.
The last time these clubs faced off for the MJHL title was back in 2007/08 which the Terriers won. Saints also appeared in the final back in 2009/10 against Dauphin Kings. Terriers defeated Selkirk Steelers last year in the MJHL final.
This year’s championship has a number of interesting twists. It’s a history maker in the fact a cross-over team, the Saints, have advanced to the final. Meanwhile, the long-time member of the Sher-Wood Division, the Terriers, just moved over this season to the Addison Division.
The best-of-seven series begins Sunday, April 1 at Portage. The remaining games are below:
