The Shindleman Aquatic Centre at Stride Place is making a splash as it reopens after its summer maintenance closure. Zapphira Neuschwander, the Recreation Manager, shared an exciting change to one of the programs.

“What people are used to is our Wednesday night Toonie Swims, we are changing that to a Family Swim. Still Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The family rate is $15 for up to a maximum of five people, two adults and three kids or one adult and four kids. This is a time for family fun, so adults must come with children and children must come with adults.”

There's a membership sale coming for the gym, aquatic memberships, and walking track memberships from September 18th to 22nd. Pool party packages are available for those planning birthday parties or other get-togethers, and swimming lesson registration opens on September 13th for October classes.

The Recreation Manager also spoke to the anticipation for opening after some delays.

“We are definitely excited to reopen.” Neuschwander says, “I know it was a bit longer of a closure than expected and we had to do our best to accommodate some of the regular outdoor programs. But, we're excited to have it back open and I think the members and the public are excited to be back inside.”

Portage residents can anticipate a return to aquatic activities and the introduction of Family Swims, promising a fun and refreshing experience at Stride Place as autumn arrives.
