Portage la Prairie residents looking to get a break from Mother Nature's hot spell will now be able to do so at Simplot Central Park.

McCain Interactive Fountain has now opened for the season, with the hours of operation being from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. every day.

"It's really exciting, especially with the hot weather we're getting lately. We're just happy to have it back on for all of our residents to enjoy." says the Director Of Operations at the City of Portage la Prairie Jocelyn Lequier-Jobin.

The fountain was originally an initiative from Portage Parks Committee three years ago and has gotten some good use since then, according to the Director Of Operations.

"I know when they had first started planning for it, it was identifying that there was limited activities for children in the North End. So, that was a big part of the location of it and why they were really hoping to get that happening."

Lequier-Jobin adds that while the target market is children, it is not restricted to just kids, meaning anyone can put on their bathing suit and start splish-splashing.
