A Portage Collegiate graduate's giving back to the community with the use of her place of business. Vivacious Studio owner Kaila Ringstrom is allowing cosmetology students from PCI to experience their hair salon class at her studio until the school construction is complete.

"I was approached by Todd Cuddington and he had the idea of bringing the students over here to use our space while the school is under construction,": says Ringstrom. "I know that we do have a little but of extra space here, so it just worked out that I could provide that for him."

She says it's great to give back to the community, noting those who work at the studio are from Portage and area.

Ringstrom says they can use the location for as long as necessary, and they're starting next week. Students will be there during afternoons a few times per week.

Ringstrom graduated from Westpark School after being there for several years following her time at Crescentview School. She says before that, she attended Fort la Reine. Ringstrom still is friends with many of her teachers, and does their hair regularly.

"It feels great that we can finally get our name out in the community. We are a fairly new business, about two years old now. So, that will definitely help get us recognized. Most of us that do work here are from Portage or around the area. So, we do like to help out where we can."

The students will be using the salon until construction is completed in the coming months.
