The first-ever Interlake Regional Health Authority Community Health Survey results have been released.

The survey focused on six communities, and was conducted to provide information for the Chronic Disease Prevention Initiative.

Health Systems Analysis Manager Tannis Erickson says they're in the early stages of forming strategies based on the data. Each community has a copy of the survey, and health promotion staff are working with them to develop initiatives to reduce the risk factors.

Erickson adds the results indicate the IRHA has some work to do to eliminate risk factors. She isn't surprised at that because national surveys showed similar trends.

Erickson notes some of their findings are better than the national numbers.
