Terrance Brent Steeden

 April 21, 1948  -  September 29, 2023

It is with sad hearts that we share the passing of Terry at Boundary Trails Hospital - on the exact day that his mother passed 48 years before in 1975.

Terry was born in Winnipeg and was the chosen son of Clifford (Kip) and Audrey Steeden. He was raised in a busy, happy home surrounded by two sisters, two brothers - and many foster children.

Three things he thoroughly enjoyed in his life were hockey - music - and movies.

Terry spent 28 years working in Moose Jaw. With a full time job, he still drove many miles to referee a game. “In his days" in the Sask. Jr. Hockey League and the WHL, he butted heads with the likes of current NHLers Ron Hextall, Theoren Fleury, Chris Chelios, Joe Sakic, Kelly Buchberger, Grant Fuhr and Mike Keene.  One of the greatest pleasures in life was reminiscing about the game that dominated so much of his adult life. (Excerpt from a Portage Newspaper-1998.)  And his love of music and movies almost became an obsession- as he amassed a huge collection of both - 18,000 movies - and over 1000 CD’s.  His knowledge in these areas was extensive - and he loved sharing his hobby with anyone willing to listen.

He also enjoyed living in Calgary, and later on Vancouver Island, then settled back in Portage la Prairie for the past 25 years.  He was his own man - but truly loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his son Terrance Robert Steeden, daughter Kathryn (Gary) Gwynn, grandson Ryan Steeden, sisters; Dianne (Romeo) Nadeau, Beverly (Ian) Robertson and brother Gerald Steeden. He was blessed with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents; Clifford (Kip) and Audrey Steeden, and one brother Daniel Steeden.

Terry was ill for the past five months and the family appreciates the care he received. Many thanks to Dr. Kinnear, Portage Hospital Medical and Rehab Units, Notre Dame Hospital and Boundary Trails Hospital.  Also special friends; Barry Trick, Keith and Samantha Hutlet and family, and The Walmart Staff.  A Celebration of Life will be held in July 2024.
