The Portage Terriers will take to the ice tomorrow night looking to even their quarterfinal series with the Winnipeg Blues at two games apiece. On Tuesday night, the Terriers picked up a crucial win in Game 3 by coming from behind and defeating the Blues in double overtime.

The Terriers have been good in the special teams category but not great. Their powerplay is operating well below where it was at during the regular season going 2 for 14 so far in the series. The Blues came in with the best powerplay in the league but the Terriers have done pretty well on the penalty-kill, keeping the Blues to just 2 goals on 12 opportunities. The special teams battle that this series looked to be, top powerplay against top penalty kill, seems to be going in favour of the Terriers so far due to their superior penalty killing given how well Winnipeg's powerplay clicked in the regular season.

Who will start in goal? That's a big question for Terriers fans today as Lasse Petersen started the first two games while Brock Aiken picked up the win on Tuesday night. Peterson has a save percentage over the two games of .887 while Aiken finished his with .870 with neither being near the best in terms of goaltending so far in the playoffs. They are making the key stops for the most part and Aiken didn't have a whole lot to do in the overtime periods last game as he was pretty much untested as the Terriers jumped on the Blues. Also, Peterson was on the hook for five in the Game 2 loss. It will be interesting who the coaching staff gives the nod to in Game 4. Their counterpart, on the other hand, has been sensational. Jeremy Link is hot right now with a sparkling .938 save percentage and a 1.95 GAA. He has had to be great as the Terriers have been dominating the Blues during much of the series but just can't get pucks past Link. Portage has absolutely shelled Winnipeg in the shots department throughout this series with the margin being 112 to 85. The Dogs will look to try and get to Link early on in Game 4 to try and take him off his game before he can get a feel for the play. The edge in goaltending so far goes to the Blues.

The Dogs have done a great job of containing regular-season leading scorer Dexter Kuczek who only has three points in the series, all assists. The ones they have to worry about now are Brady Castellano and Devon Skoleski. Castellano and Skoleski already have 3 goals apiece in the series and seem to be a threat everytime they step on the ice. Portage has a more score-by-committee type series going on with an unlikely point leader in defenceman Cody Thompson who has had a strong series thus far. No Terriers player has scored two or more goals this series as seven different Terriers have notched goals. While their breakouts haven't always been the best they have been strong on the forecheck and are playing a physical game against Winnipeg. Speaking of physicality, Scott Mickoski was slotted back into the lineup after finishing his suspension and made his presence felt as he landed a couple big hits on Blues players that had them thinking twice before going into the corner. Both teams have had some strong play from their forward and defence groupings but the Terriers have the edge because of the immense amount of pressure they are putting on Link to be great in net for Winnipeg and because of the sheer physicality with which they play their game.

One thing is for sure, when the puck drops tonight it will be a fantastic game. Both teams have had some highs and lows already in this short series. The momentum from the Blues' overtime win in Game 1 carried them to a 5-1 win in Game 2. Can the Terriers bottle the same energy that they got from their overtime winner to finally have a dominant performance on the scoresheet as well as on the ice? Game 4 is shaping up to be a fantastic clash but either way, the road will lead back Portage la Prairie for Game 5 on Saturday night. Puck drop tomorrow night is 7:00 pm at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg.
