Portage la Prairie RCMP arrested three people after a traffic stop on October 7th, 2022 just before 11:00 pm on 3rd Street SE.

Officers saw a vehicle heading east on Saskatchewan Avenue East with their lights off, and promptly pulled them over. The driver had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest and was prohibited from driving. She was arrested and is set to appear in court at a later date.

There were two passengers in the vehicle at the time. The first, Aaron Penman of Portage, also had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. He had a no-contact order with the driver and was charged for Failing to Comply with a Release Order. He was remanded into custody and appeared in court on Tuesday.

The passenger in the back seat, Amber Bell of the RM of Portage, was in breach of her curfew and was arrested. During a search of her property, drugs and paraphernalia indicative of trafficking in drugs was discovered. She attempted to deceive the officer by providing a fake name. She was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Failing to Comply with a Release Order and Obstruct a Police Officer. She was remanded into custody and also appeared in court on Tuesday.

Police believe approximately $6,000 worth of methamphetamines were seized during this traffic stop.
