Update: 7:00 p.m.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to the site of the incident. The incident is referred to as a train collision by the TSB.  The team will be on-site tomorrow in order to gather information and assess the occurrence,  More information to follow as it becomes available.

Update: 2:15 p.m.

"CN crews are responding to an incident involving 2 CN trains of mixed freight east of Portage La Prairie," reports Jonathan Abecassis of CN. "There are no injuries or spilled dangerous goods. Preliminary reports indicate that 8 cars derailed as well as 2 locomotives. Fuel from the locomotive fuel tanks has been contained after initially leaking. CN is investigating the cause of the incident."

Initial Story:

A train derailment recently occurred just east of the City of Portage la Prairie just south of Bowes Rd. At this time CN Police are investigating the incident and working to get the train upright. 

"CN crews are responding to an incident involving two CN trains near Oakville, MB," reports Jonathan Abecassis of CN. "There are no reports of injuries. Initial reports suggest fuel from locomotive fuel tanks are leaking but are being contained."
