A 10 inch main water line break in Carman has been repaired.

Councillor Ron McClain says they realized something was wrong Wednesday morning, and had the water shut off by noon.

The break happened behind the Legion hall, and most of the lost water flowed into the Boyne River.

McClain says the break was not due to a freezing line, however the cold weather could have played a part. It's thought a cave-in was probably the main reason for the break.

He notes some residents were without water for about 12 hours, but everything is up and working now, adding the crew brought as much water as possible to residents who were in desperate need.
