Westest VP Harvey Chorney talking about the new facility

This was a banner day for Westest in Portage la Prairie.

They held the grand opening of their new vehicle performance facility. Vice-president Harvey Chorney says the new facility means Westest will increase its number of employees by at least five.

One of Westest's major clients is New Flyer Industries, and Chief Technical Adviser Paul Zanetel is confident it'll benefit their business because they can test new innovations without travelling thousands of miles.

Provincial Ag Minister Stan Struthers sees this as a big step forward that will benefit farmers.

Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Hoeppner adds partnering between the provincial and federal governments was key to getting this done.

Portage Mayor Earl Porter is excited, notong companies like Westest are the backbone of the local economy.

Here are Harvey Chorney's remarks this morning.
