Entering her fourth year at Portage's Service For Seniors, Resource Coordinator Kaylee Hannah is now planning everything that they'd like to make available to seniors for 2024. She notes some activities are being laid out through a partnership with the City.

"We've been working on updating our seniors resource guides," says Hannah. "We're hoping to have those finalized and printed in early 2024. They're guides with information that seniors would need. They outline different organizations, housing, and resources that seniors would be interested in knowing."

She explains it's nice for people to have a hard copy of these references.

"We came out with them in 2019 and we're going through and updating them all with new information," continues Hannah. "They're available at our office. We only have a few left from 2019, but we're hoping to get enough printed in 2024 so that whoever needs one, can get it."

Hannah says a new logo is also in the works for the organization, which will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

"We're still going to be doing some other events and fundraisers, but nothing is really set in stone yet, other than our World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in June," adds Hannah.

She says the demand is higher for their services. This was especially noticed with their free transportation and free meals programs.

"There's definitely a high need in the community for our services," adds Hannah. "We'll continue to apply for grants and try and put out new programming to help the seniors in our community."

Hannah extends a huge thank-you on behalf of the staff and board at Portage Service For Seniors to their clients, volunteers, staff, donors, Southern Health-Santé Sud, United Way of Central Plains, Community Foundation of Portage and District, and 150 Women Who Care for another great year.
