Wolverines topple Terriers
Struggles in both ends of the ice caught up with the Portage Terriers tonight in a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. A tough start in the first period saw Waywayseecappo score two goals in the first 11 minutes, which ended Ryan Velan's night. Portage would strike back with a goal just under three minutes later, as Ryker Thomas would find a rebound and put it home to make it 2-1. That would end the scoring for the first period. The second frame would see Portage put 17 shots on net, but were unable to solve the Wolverine netminder. Meanwhile Waywayseecappo added a pair of goals on broken coverages, making it 4-1 after 40 minutes. The Wolverines would add another powerplay goal in the third period, where it would stay, making it 5-1. The Dogs get a bit of reprieve with a break until they head up to Waywayseecappo on Thursday, October 30 for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop. That game will be broadcast on CFRY. Their next home game will be Saturday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. when the Winnipeg Monarchs come to town.
