The PCI Saints picked up a big win in the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League yesterday. They took out the Beliveau Barracudas 8-0 at the BDO Centre.

"The girls haven't been on the ice for over a week and it showed at the start," says head coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie. "As the game went on we got our feet under us and kept things simple. They moved the puck well and we liked a lot of what we saw here tonight."

Maddie Shwaluk and Morgan Parynuik each finished the game with five points. Parynuik had a goal and four assists, Shwaluk had a hat trick and two assists. Seven other Saints had at least a point in the victory.

"The spread out scoring is really nice to see," says Clark-Gillespie. "It's nice when one girl doesn't have to be relied on. She won't feel the pressure and the other girls don't feel like they need to always get the puck to that one player. They're all looking for each other and trying to move the puck, and it shows in the way they're setting up offensively. We don't just throw the puck on net and see what happens, they're working the cycle and looking for the defence. You can really see the creativity coming."

Morgan Klassen picked up her fifth shutout of the season, stopping all 19 shots she faced yesterday.

"I don't know if she realizes that she's leading three of the four categories in the goaltending department of our division. She wasn't too busy but she looked well. She has been really focused and she's tracking the puck well and controlling things. It's nice to see her steady between the pipes."

The Saints continue their hunt for top spot in the 'B' Division Wednesday when they host Springfield.
