Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Portage la Prairie wrapped up another successful Bowl For Kids Sake fundraiser at Southport Bowl yesterday.

Executive Director Dawn Froese says they brought in better than $13,000, and explains its impact.

"To continue mentoring kids," she says. "Finding mentors for kids, making sure it's a safe relationship. Really helping individual kids achieve more. We want to help them improve their life."

It was the first time participating for Jasmine Edinger from Bell/MTS.

"With Bell/MTS, we wanted to be more into our community," she says. "And we wanted to do things more for everybody, and something as a team."

It was the fourth or fifth time at Bowl For Kids for Chase Emberly.

Chase Emberly"It's just a fun experience," he says. "And it's nice to donate to the Bowl For Kids group."

Big Brothers/Big Sisters board member Auna-Marie Brown says having so many young people involved is important.

"I think our youngest was 3-years old, on Friday night," she says. "And the support from the community is just awesome."
