Heather Stefanson paid a visit to Portage la Prairie yesterday in effort to make herself more aware of what's happening here as well as other communities in the province. She's former Minister of Health and Seniors Care for the province and current MLA for Tuxedo, who is vying for premiership.

One of her stops was the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC). She shares her thoughts on the strides being made at the PCRC.

"Very exciting, some of the amazing projects that are coming out of here," says Stefanson. "There are amazing people who are working on it. And it's really making a difference for the community, I think."

Stefanson comments on her vie for the premiership.

"I'm excited and just blessed to have the support of Ian Wishart here in Portage la Prairie and other colleagues as well," adds Stefanson. "And so certainly, I'm on the ground working very hard and listening to Manitobans."

Portage MLA Ian Wishart comments on her candidacy for leadership.

"She's visiting all of our constituencies across the province and I'm taking advantage of that opportunity to show her some of the things that we do in the Portage constituency that are unique to Portage," notes Wishart. "And so, we're here with the folks at PCRC showing her all the activities. And we're going to do a few other places during the day."

Wishart says they're also visiting some of the plants that Portage has been able to attract.

"She's really aware of what's going on here and also the urban reserve, which is fairly unique as you know, and so she needs to know what's going," continues Wishart. "It's great to have her here in Portage, so she knows our community."
