TSN's Darren Dutchyshen and Kate Beirness in Holland

Da da da, da da da..

TSN and the Kraft Celebration Tour made its Manitoba stop yesterday in Holland. The tour is nearing completion of a province to province journey, stopping in the ten communities that won a national vote for their sporting project. The Holland Recreation Committee put their bid in and now have $25,000 to help upgrade their baseball diamonds and purchase a new zamboni. The community of four hundred is also still in the running for the $100,000 grand prize which will be announced on Monday.

Making their way through the west coast leg of the tour are anchors Kate Beirness and Darren Dutchyshen. Dutchyshen talks about what the trip has been like to this point.

"We've had a great trip. We started in Nanaimo, British Columbia, then we ended up in Barrhead, Alberta, and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and now we're in Holland. It's really fun, it's one of the best initiatives that we do at TSN, seriously, I love it. Being from a small town coming to these places I know how far the money goes and it's a proud day for them. We're thrilled to be there."

Dutchyshen says growing up he didn't travel much, so this is a unique way to see the country. He says his favorite moment is right before they go live.

"When I say "get ready, cause coast to coast Canada is gonna see your town or community in five," and just people's faces light up. Our country is big and vast and beautiful and doesn't matter where you go, Canadians, we're good people."

Each stop allows the anchors to try out some activity that is prominent with that community. Dutchyshen and Beirness got to try their hand at harness racing at Holland's race track. He says six years on the Kraft Celebration Tour has seen him do some wild things, but it's a blast.

Next up the tour will be live from Gander, Newfoundland, while Dutchyshen and company will wrap up in the nation's capital Sunday.
