Yesterday it was reported that an anhydrous ammonia leak took place at the Turko Fertilizer Plant near McCreary. Tasha Turko is the Facility Manager and provided us with an update. She explains that a release did happen, but is happy to report the responding agencies were able to stop the leak in a very short amount of time.

"We understand people were worried," says Turko. "There was no point during the leak where peoples health was at risk. We have safety systems in place, that allows for a quick response from our staff and responding agencies."

She stresses they are sorry about causing concern and notes the leak began and was stopped in an hour or so. She adds, there was no off-site impact, no injuries, and minimal product loss.
