The Community Foundation of Portage and District is having it's 24-Hour Giving Challenge tomorrow, and asks you to donate at least five dollars. Foundation President Carey Duncan says this year your donation will be stretched further.

"An extra dollar is given by the Winnipeg Foundation, and new this year, an additional dollar is donated by the province of Manitoba. So it really is about the stretching dollars this time around. So your five dollar donation turns into a seven dollar donation, a 100-dollar donation is a $140," says Duncan.

Duncan says money raised will stay local.

"With that endowment fund, it's never spent, it's only the interest that is earned from it that goes back to community projects and organizations. Places where they're seeing a void, and ways to improve our community. For us, every dollar counts, and this is one more way to stretch that even further," Duncan explains.

Duncan notes they're looking forward to the event, which also coincides with National Philanthropy Day.

You can donate online on the Foundation's website, www.cfpdi.ca or endowmanitoba.ca, as well as heading to the new office location at 206 Saskatchewan Avenue East from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
